How it started.
Maison Veloura™ began with a single conviction: the hours you spend in bed are not leftover time. They are a third of the day, and the bedding should be chosen with the same care as the rest of the room. Most sheets are bought once, forgotten, replaced. We wanted the opposite. A silk pillowcase, a silk fitted sheet, a silk duvet cover — pieces you keep, wash, and put back on the bed.
So we built a mulberry silk bedding house around one fibre and one weight. 100% mulberry silk, 19 momme. Silk pillowcases in 50×70 and 65×65. Silk fitted sheets in French mattress sizes 90×200, 140×200, 160×200 and 180×200, with a 25 cm pocket. Silk duvet covers cut to the duvet: 140×200, 200×200, 240×220, 260×240. What we believe.
The label should tell the truth. Mulberry silk, 19 momme, the size, the pocket, the closure. If a listing only says “smooth” and never names the fibre, it is not telling you what you are buying.
Not all silk is the same. We choose ours by weight: 19 momme mulberry silk, Grade 6A on the banners, woven from OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified fabric. Momme is a weight number, not a poem. Below 16, silk bedding often thins sooner at the stitching. Nineteen is the weight we sell.
Made to be kept. A silk pillowcase you rotate — one on the bed, one in the wash — and a silk bedding set that matches in one order last longer in a real cupboard than a piece you are afraid to wash.
Why silk?
Mulberry silk is a natural protein fibre from silkworms fed only on mulberry leaves. That diet gives a long, even filament, which is why it is the fibre used for silk bedding that has to be washed, not only photographed. It has a fluid drape and a quiet sheen. It is silk on both sides of our pillowcases, with a hidden zip. The fitted sheet holds with elasticated corners. The duvet cover closes with hidden buttons.
We do not sell a mystery finish. We sell 19 momme mulberry silk, cut to European pillows and French mattresses, in a silk bedding set when you want the whole bed in one shade. The silk is woven in China. Partners cut and sew to the sizes on each product page.
